We cruised all over the town of Natividade da Serra this morning. Things I noticed:
I love the red roofs. Very pretty.
The houses are most often painted some sort of neutral beige/white, but there are also a lot of colors. Most go well with the red clay and red roofs, but there's the occasional weird lime green. I really like this one street near Peter's house where there are a lot of great colors.
I'm also rather partial to the house with the purple trim and purple chimney.
Peter says this yellow house was just repainted. I like it. Peter's dad lives on the right of the gold house.
Here's something odd: You see telephone booths all over the place. They're called orelhao -- big ear.
They sorta look like a big ear.
I like this house a lot.
I mentioned the baskets for trash. They look like this:
There's a super fancy house behind that wall, but I would have been a complete stalker if I had taken a photo. (Maybe tomorrow ;-)
Pretty much all of the houses have gates and fences or windows with bars. There's a reasonably high crime rate. Most manage to incorporate the bars into the design of the house in some way, but it's also like being in parts of Southern California where you just get used to seeing them. This is a typical street:

I will have to warn my dogs about you when you come to visit. They are too fat and not down with doggie death marches!
